Anacortes, Washington

 

As winter dusk falls, the lights come on at the expansive Tesoro oil refinery on Fidalgo Bay.  In the background rises the volcanic cone of 10,781 foot Mount Baker, nothernmost of the Cascade Volcanoes.  The contrast, between Industry and Wilderness, is striking.
