Is it a sign that I have not had a productive month when I choose someone else's creation as my Picture of the Month?  Maybe so, but I was so enchanted by this "living" sculpture that I couldn't resist posting it. I came upon the "Mud Maid" in the forest of Heligan Gardens in the Cornish countryside, and thought it was one of the most striking, and appropriate, pieces of garden art I have ever seen.

I spent the past month lecturing on photography aboard the National Geographic Explorer. It was a terrific experience (despite the worst weather in 35 years) but as is so often the case, I did not produce any really satisying work of my own. Instead, I applaud the creative work of these fine artists.  My picture is just a record of their work, and a beautiful Spring day.

This was a simple image, done under a happily overcast sky, shooting two side-by-side images, stitched together in Photoshop.
